Posted by mcauleyhighschool on August 5, 2009

I received this update about the “Presser Girls”.  Karen Presser Gerber  ’70, Debra Presser ’71, Penny Presser Goodman ’82… as well as their mother Nancy Presser who worked in the Cafeteria…

The Presser Girls

Karen, class of 70, married Tim Toth and had 4 children. She has been happily married to Dan Gerber for the last 13 years.  She put her “speed” in typing to good use working for Dun & Bradstreet for 17 years and is now happily a stay-at-home wife and grandmother of 12.  She lives in South Bend, IN, but is making plans to relocate to the Denver area.  Oldest daughter, Jennifer has 5 sons and she lives with her husband in Panama City, FL where they enjoy a home built by Habitat for Humanity.  Beth is in Tucson, AZ working as a Paramedic, going to school for nursing and raising a son.  Michael and his wife are in Rhode Island raising a son and daughter.  Karen’s youngest; Andy and his wife live in Goshen, IN and are raising a son.  Yes, the only granddaughter is a cutie.  Karen came into a personal relationship with the Lord in 1993 and truly enjoys living out her faith each day.

Deb, class of 71, joined the RSM’s after HS, stayed for 9 years and then went on to earn her Masters Degree in Counseling.  She lives in Sandusky and works for an Adult Career Center.  Deb is active with many groups: The Harlequin Community Theatre (her most recent show just won 11 awards at the Northwest Regional  Ohio Community Theatre Association and so the show is going to the state competition over labor day.  Break a leg Deb), Parents and Friends of Gays and Lesbians (PFLAG), the American Red Cross (Deb was a mental health worker during after Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans) and an intimate spiritual community of working mystics.  Yes, she still plays the string bass and guitar.  She loves to ride her Honda Scooter back and forth to work (Don’t laugh, it gets 60 mpg).

Penny, class of 82, married Brian Goodman.  They are getting ready to celebrate their 20th anniversary September 1st by vacationing on St. Simon’s Island.  She graduated from U.T. with a Bachelor’s in Business/Marketing.  Penny has worked in sales, specializing in bath and kitchen design in Toledo, Maumee & Arizona.  Currently, she and Brian manage a highly successful storage facility in Northwood.  Penny and Brian are very active in their church, Western Avenue Family Center, where Brian is the Chaplain & in charge of the food ministry to the less fortunate in the old south end.  Music ministry is still in Penny’s blood.  Together, they have helped many families find their faith, warm clothes and good food.

Nancy, one of the “Cookie Ladies” of the snack bar and cafeteria, still lives in the neighborhood with husband George.  If McAuley was still McAuley, she would still be working there.  She loved it!  She misses the sisters, teachers, the staff and ALL the girls.  She loves keeping track of you and always lets us know when she hears about marriages, babies, deaths, etc.  She always seems to have a story of one of you or your family.  She does a better job of keeping track of who was in whose class than we do!  Nancy is still active at OLPH.  She and dad work very hard on the rummage sales.  Nancy is the queen of garage sales, having at least 2 a year over on Mapleway Dr.  Besides the girls, Nancy raised a son, who still lives in the area with his 2 children.
