Faculty – Margaret Gaynier

I recently received information that Mrs. Margaret Gaynier  (teacher) passed away in November 2006.  Posted in the Toledo Blade 11/11/06  (Note the year is 2006 – but I just found out and wanted to let everyone know).

GAYNIER Margaret F. Margaret F. Gaynier, 65 years, of LaSalle, MI, died Thursday, November 9, 2006, in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center. An educator, she taught science and English at McCauley High School for several years. After raising her family, she taught science and religion at St. John the Baptist Elementary School in Point Place from 1986 till 2005. She was honored with the Governor’s Award for Excellence in teaching. The daughter of Alphonse and Charlotte (Kosydar) Wester, she was born August 11, 1941, in Toledo. Margaret had attended St. Hedwig’s Grade School, Central Catholic High School and graduated from the University of Toledo with a bachelors degree in education. August 10, 1963, she married Alvin Gaynier in St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church in Toledo. Margaret was a Notre Dame, Lions and Tigers fan and loved working in her garden. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Erie, MI where she was a Eucharistic minister and taught Catechism. She is survived by her loving husband of over 43 years, Alvin; children, Mary Gaynier, John (Janine) Gaynier, Ann (John Atkins) Gaynier, Peter (Chris) Gaynier; mother, Charlotte Wester; brothers, Tom (Karen) Wester, Bill (Mary) Wester, and 3 grandchildren, Jonathan, Paige and Connor. Visitation will be held Sunday and Monday from 2 till 8 p.m. in the Bedford Funeral Chapel, 8300 Lewis Ave., Temperance, MI. The Rosary will be prayed Monday at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Erie, MI, where she will lie in state from 10:30 till 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
