MISIAK Christine (Mikolajczyk) 10/22/1944 – 8/7/2009 On Friday afternoon, August 7, 2009. surrounded by her family, Chris received her medal of valor as she entered the Heavenly Kingdom after a year long battle against Leukemia. Chris was born in Toledo to Valentine and Pearl Mikolajczyk. She attended St. Anthony’s Grade School and McCauley High School. She was a member of the original Jerry Francis Singers and Toledo Council of Catholic Young Adults. Together with her husband, John, they raised 3 fine children. In 1986 the family moved to Durham, NC where she began work at Infant Catholic Church. In 2000 she and her husband moved to Modesto, CA. Chris was active in and volunteered for many church activities. As a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic church, she was a member of the Respect Life committee and, after joining St. Anthony’s Catholic church in Hughson, she organized and became the chairperson of the Respect Life Committee. She was also a member of the Young Ladies Institute. She is pre-deceased by her parents and her brother, Valentine. She is survived by her husband, John: three children, Brian Misiak of Charlotte, NC, Heather Lynn Geggatt of Savannah, GA, Laura Shields of Morrisville, NC, and eight wonderful grandsons. She is also survived by her sister, Alice Pacer and brother, Carl Mikolajczyk, both of Toledo, OH. A Memorial Service honoring her life will be held Saturday, September 5 at 11:00 at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Toledo. Interment will be in North Carolina. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, c/o Team in Training, 1132 Pestana Ave., Manteca, CA 95336
