
COMTE Margaret Dorothy (Sweeney) Margaret D. Comte, 85, passed away Saturday, March 20, 2010, at the So. Toledo location of Hospice of Northwest Ohio with her loving family by her side. She was born in Toledo, Ohio on July 19, 1924 to John and Olive (Blackburn) Sweeney. She graduated from Notre Dame Academy and Mary Manse College where she earned a teaching degree in art. Marge taught art two years at St. Ursula Academy. She returned to UT and earned an elementary teaching degree and taught for the Toledo Public Schools for 12 years. She met Robert F. Comte at Centennial Terrace and they married November 25, 1948. Together they raised five children. She is preceded in death by her parents, her son, Jack Comte, brothers, John “Bud” Sweeney, William Sweeney and Jim Sweeney. Marge had a zest for life as she cherished each and every friendship during the good times and bad. She loved to play bridge with her high school, college, and her Heatherdowns Country Club friends. Marge and Bob were members of Heatherdowns Country Club where she loved playing golf. She enjoyed going to Loma Linda’s Restaurant with family and friends and toasted many margaritas over the years. She loved being with her children and grandchildren where her infectious laughter was always a welcoming beacon. She and Bob celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on a Caribbean cruise with her family and 60th anniversary with her family at a local restaurant. Marge helped with the Meals on Wheels for 19 years. She was a member of Notre Dame Alumna, Toledo Federation of Teachers and St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Parish. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 61 years, Robert and their children, Carol (Larry) Keller, Robert (Linda Leganik) Comte Jr., Mary Lynn (Robert) Hope and Barbara (Michael) Gail. Ten grandchildren and ten great- grandchildren also survive. Words cannot express how so very much Marge was loved and will be sadly missed; she was a magnificent wife, mother, friend, teacher and our inspirational rock. “May Irish eyes be shining upon you.” Friends may call at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 So. Reynolds Road, Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will then be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Church. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
