Carol Szykowny Walker ’63 (sister of Suzanne ’65 & Jan ’69)

WALKER Carol M. Carol M. Walker, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2012 in University of Toledo Medical Center. She was born in Toledo on December 28, 1945 to Stephen F. and Roslyn C., nee Werner, Szykowny. She was the widow of Robert S. Walker, whom she married on February 4, 1967. He pre-deceased her in November of 2009. Carol was both a teacher and librarian for Gesu School. She also headed up the school’s quiz bowl team for many years. After retiring from Gesu, she volunteered at the library of Mary Immaculate School. Cooking was one of her favorite things, and she was known to try almost every recipe in her cookbooks. She loved crafting and was an avid environmentalist. Carol will be deeply missed by her two daughters, Donna (Dave) Ludwikoski, and Laurie (Ed) Hoff; grandchildren, Ben, Alex, and Lindsey Hoff; brother, Dave (Ginger) Szykowny, and sisters, Suzanne (Patrick) Crippen and Janice (KC) Gilbert. Friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Road on Wednesday, August 1, 2012, from 2:00-5:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. where the rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin on Thursday, August 2, in the mortuary at 12:15 p.m., followed by the funeral Mass at Gesu Church at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
