Patricia A. Meiring, 86, of Gainesville Florida, formerly of Toledo, Ohio, passed away November 1, 2012, after a brief illness. “Pat” daughter of William H. McDermott and Elizabeth (Mattimore) McDermott was born in Toledo, June 9, 1926.
She attended Immaculate Conception grade school, St. Ursula Academy (class of 1944) and Mary Manse College. She completed her BA. at the University of Toledo in 1997 and received her M.L.S. degree there with a concentration in Theatre Arts in 2002.
While a resident of Perrysburg, she was a member of St. Rose Parish and later a member of St Aloysius Parish of Bowling Green, Ohio.
Pat was a longtime member of the St. Ursula Alumnae Association and the Toledo Bar Auxiliary.
Pat volunteered at Hospice of Northwest Ohio and, an avid theatre enthusiast, she volunteered at the Valentine Theatre and the Toledo Repertoire Theatre.
In the support of her youngest daughter she was an advocate for the intellectually disabled of Wood County for over 40 years.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers William and Bernard; sisters Rosemary; husband, James J. Meiring; daughter, Mary, and two infant sons. She is survived by her sons, James Jr. Highlands, NC, and Thomas, Germantown TN; daughters, Marcia, Monroe, CT, Anne, Gainesville, FL, and Jean, Sharon, CT and eight grandchildren.
A celebration of her life is planned for St Patrick’s Day weekend March 16-17, 2013.
