Mrs. Gouttiere passed away – Teacher

Mary Rita Gouttiere, age 93, of Maumee, passed away Friday, Febryary 1, 2013, in Hospice of Northwest Ohio

She attended Notre Dame Academy and graduated from DeSales College with a degree in education. She taught at Elmore, Walbridge and McAuley High Schools.

She married Franz Nestor Gouttiere in 1947. They were founding members of the Cadence Dance Club. She enjoyed sewing, cooking reading, painting and traveling. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who will be truly missed.

Preceded in death by her husband, Franz; sister, Ann Ferstle. She is survived by children, John (Lee Ann), Carol (Michael) Lettich, Mary (Robert) Simon, and David; sister, Deborah Gallagher, Idaho Falls; sister-in-law, Sr. Marie Michelle Gouttiere O.S.U. (nee Rosemary Gouttiere); grandchildren, Cristin, Katie, Colleen, Todd, Nicholas and Jack; niece, Kathy Savord, and many other nieces and nephews

Friends may call Monday 2:00-8:00 p.m. at the Coyle Funeral Home 1770 S. Reynolds Road where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. The funeral will begin in the mortuary Tuesday at 9:45 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph’s Church, Maumee at 10:30. Interment St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Memorials may take the form of a contribution to the church or the Ursuline Sisters of Cleveland, Ohio.
