ADAMS

Shirley Ann

As we celebrate her life and treasure her existence on our own, words cannot describe the sadness felt in our hearts when she departed from this life on Friday, October 18, 2013. She was born to Mary (Kirby) and Martin Dunlap on October 27, 1945. She led a full accomplished life and positively touched the hearts of many. Shirley graduated from McAuley High School and further completed her education at Mary Manse College. She took pride in working very hard as she was a devoted loving mother. Shirley worked 27 years as unit controller for Travel Centers of America. Many will also fondly remember her as operator of the American Legion Bingo Hall on Byrne Rd. for several years. She made numerous friends while residing at Waterford (Levis Commons), where she was known for her positive outgoing attitude while stimulating many to participate in organized activities there. Shirley loved Wii bowling, crafts, cards, bingo and most importantly, visits made by her granddaughters, Cali and Macy. Further friendships developed when she moved to Luther Crest.

Shirley was most grateful for the staff at Heartland (Waterville) where she spent many days for extended rehab on several occasions. There were many there who willingly gave so much of themselves to add promise to her days. The family would like to express most sincere gratitude for the excellent compassionate care extended to Shirley while at DaVita Dialysis, the life squad who assisted and Drs. Olson, Mahmood and staff at the ED at UTMA. All was further complimented by Drs. Hammersly, Maholtra and Manenvees in the Medical ICU. The family will forever be most humbly grateful to them as well as the other staff/chaplains working in the unit. Most deserving to be mentioned are her nurses Shiloh, Begum, Jeff, Kim and Aaron. Their expertise, knowledge and compassion will always be remembered and held with high regard.

Shirley was preceded in death by parents, Raymond and Mary Kirby; aunts, Betty, Margaret and Joan. Left to cherish her memory are loving son, Troy (Amy) Adams; granddaughters, Macy and Cali; sister, Sharon Bilius; nephew, Todd (Ronit) Bilius and their children, Evan and Jake; niece, Amy (Any) Gardner and their children, Lincoln, Griffin and Bowen.

Visitation will begin for Shirley in the David R. Jasin-Hoening Funeral Home, 5300 N. Summit St., Toledo, OH 43611 (419.726.1583) on Tuesday, October 22, 2013, from 2-8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at 11 a.m., with Fr. Tony Borgia officiating. Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution in Shirley’s name are asked to consider the American Legion Pond Post # 99, 3247 E. Manhattan Blvd., Toledo, OH 43611. Condolences for the family may be left at
