Joanne Radocy Nelson ’65 passed away

Joanne Radocy Nelson – SAVANNAH – Joanne Radocy Nelson, 67, passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at Hospice Savannah after a long battle with cancer. Mrs. Nelson was born in Toledo, Ohio March 27, 1947 to Joseph Anthony Radocy and Eleanor Trenchick Radocy. She was a graduate of McCauley High School in Toledo, Ohio. She was a floral designer for over 50 years with her work mostly at Barkley’s, Linderman’s, and Pink House Florist in Savannah. She was a member of the Savannah Elks Auxiliary serving two terms as President, a member of the Wymberly Garden Club where she served as President, and a member of the Isle of Hope Baptist Church. She had a love for art, flower and vegetable gardens, and was a devoted Christian. Survivors include her husband John L. Nelson; daughter Audra Marie Lofton of Winder, Georgia; grandchildren Caitlyn Eyre Lofton and Nelson Mayes Lofton; Brother Joseph Radocy (Connie) of Elyria, Ohio; Sister Janet Free (John) of Oregon, Ohio, several nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held 6-8 P.M., Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Fairhaven Funeral Home Hubert C. Baker Chapel. A memorial service will be held 11 A.M., Friday, June 27, 2014 at Isle of Hope Baptist Church, graveside following at Elkins Family Cemetery with fellowship following at the Elks Lodge #183. Remembrances can be made to the Isle of Hope Baptist Church Vision of Hope or Hospice Savannah.
