Kristina Bollin Kelso Obituary

Kristina Bollin Kelso

Over 11 years ago, Kristina Bollin Kelso was blessed with one of the greatest gifts one can receive. An anonymous family suffering through an unimaginable tragedy, donated their child’s lungs so Kristina could have a second chance at life. From that point forward, she did not waste a single moment.

Alongside her husband Paul, Kristina became a tireless proponent of organ donation while raising her son and daughter, Jake and Tatum. She was a Mentor at the Lung Transplant Foundation and a Support Group Administrator at Duke University Hospital in North Carolina. All who knew her will never forget her indomitable spirit and her adopted rallying cry of “Just Breathe…”

Heartbreakingly, Kristina lost her second life on February 21, 2018. The family will forever be grateful for the time they were able to spend with her, thanks to the incredible healthcare she received throughout the years up to her final moments. She loved music, nature and animals. Kristina was an Artist, but above all, she would want to be remembered for what she was put on earth to do, be a mother. She touched everyone she met in a special way, but the life changing impact she had on her children, will always be her most meaningful legacy. Kristina was determined to have her babies and raise them, despite the odds. That intense determination is what allowed her to realize her dream and her family will be eternally grateful for the sacrifices she made.

Kristina was preceded in death by her father, Fred A. Bollin and her mother-in-law, Geri Kelso. Kristina is survived by her husband, Paul Kelso; daughter, Tatum Kelso and son, Jake Kelso; her mother, Mary Lou Bollin, father-in-law Robert Kelso and his son Brent Kelso; as well as her brother Fred Bollin, his wife Stephany Bollin, and their daughter, McKenna Bollin.

There will be a celebration of her life in Boca Raton, FL on or around March 17th, with details to follow on social media. There will also be a service in Toledo, on a date to be determined.

Kristina attended The Ohio State University and was a Graduate of Lourdes University.

Donations can be made to the Lung Transplant Foundation in Kristina’s name or you can consider donating to help with Kristina’s final hospital expenses at this gofundme page here All donations collected from this campaign in excess of the final hospital expenses will be given to the Lung Transplant Foundation.
