Edward Dresser Floyd Obituary

Edward Dresser Floyd, age 92 of Whitehouse, OH passed away on March 23, 2018.

He was born to Edward Leroy and Vivian Rae (Dresser) Floyd on March 7, 1926. He was a graduate of Waite High School and then went on to serve his country proudly in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII. Ed was only home from the military a couple of weeks when he met the most beautiful woman at the Trianon Ballroom. That was when history was made and he married Lois Dorothy Murphy on July 12, 1947, and together they raised 10 children. He spent his career working for Libbey Owens Ford as a Shift Electrician Supervisor for over 34 years, where he invented numerous patents for the glass manufacturing industry which are still in use today. Ed was a devout Catholic and was very committed to his faith. He was a lifetime member of the Catholic church and a longtime member of St. Joseph Church in Maumee. He was able to fix or build almost anything. He obtained his pilot’s license and loved to fly with his military buddies, friends and family.

Ed was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Lois; his parents, brother, Jim; and grandson, Nicolas Iorio. He is survived by his children, Kay (Charles) Gifford, Jeane Swemba, Dr. Edward J. (Susan) Floyd, Susan (Timothy) Iorio, Michael Floyd, Laura (David) Rahanian, Amy (Rob Brown) Goins, Lisa Armstrong, Patrick (Clare) Floyd and Cindy (Charles) Skeens; sister, Mary Corese Floyd, S.N.D., 20 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and his faithful dog, Dottie.

Friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd., on Sunday, March 25 from 2-8 p.m., where a Scripture Service will be recited at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 26 beginning at 9:30 a.m., in the mortuary, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church, Maumee at 10 a.m. Interment Whitehouse Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Gretchen, Mary, Jayme and Tom for their commitment and loyalty to Ed.
