Father of Maureen Gavin-Kohlman ’75, Thaleen Gavin Mikulak ’77 and Colleen Gavin Schade ’80 passed away:

Harvey J. “Mike” Gavin, Jr., 86, of Maumee passed away Sunday, Nov. 25, 2018 . He was born Feb.27,1932 in Toledo to Harvey J. and Wilma (Liebich) Gavin. After graduating from Macomber, he began his career as a carpenter with the City of Toledo and served in the Naval Reserve. He then founded his general contracting firm, Gavin and Associates. Two noteworthy projects were St. Joseph Community Center in Maumee and The Parkcrest Medical Center in Toledo. He was also a partner in Knight Realty Property Mgt. He was a lifelong golfer and in retirement , loved his position as GM at Heatherdowns Country Club. Mike enjoyed his cottage on Sand Lake, and loved to travel, especially to Florida. He also enjoyed antiquing and cooking, collecting a vast array of cookbooks. His greatest joy was spending time with his large family and was always proud of their accomplishments.

He is survived by his children Michael, Patrick (Letti), Maureen Kohlman, Timothy, Kathleen Mikulak, Colleen (Ralph) Schade and Daniel (Beth); grandchildren Michael (Lisa) Sean, Kelli, Colleen, Ryane (Michael), Chelsea (Dalton), John, Jacob, Kristen, Kelsey, Kevin, Karah, Jessica, Meghan (Flynn), Erin, Gavin, Brenden, Madison, Elise, Christopher, Joey (Shelby), Ellie and Annie (Jordan); great-grandchildren Zoe, Elliott, Asher, Jack, Flynn, Macy and Bryce; and sister Helene Cramer. He was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law Gregg, former wife Helen and his niece, Sarah.

Visitation will take place on Fri, Nov.30, at Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St. Maumee from 5-8 pm where funeral services will begin Saturday, December 1, at 10 am followed by the funeral mass at 10:30 am in St. Joseph Church, Maumee. Interment to follow at Riverside Cemetery, Maumee. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans (dav.org) or the charity of the donor’s choice. Theresa Cortez ’76 passed away

Theresa M. Cortez, age 60, of Toledo, Ohio passed away on November 13, 2018. A funeral mass will be held on December 15, 2018 at 4 PM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 434 Eastern Ave, Toledo, OH.

Janet Nagy Page ’73 passed away

JANET NAGY PAGE
Janet Nagy Page, 62, of Silver Spring, MD died Sunday morning, October 28, 2018, in her home. She was born on December 28, 1955, the daughter of Frank and Virginia (Zolchiak) Nagy of Perrysburg, Ohio. Janet earned her bachelor’s degree from Wittenberg University; where she was a Chi Omega and spent two semesters abroad at Kansai Gaidai University, Osaka Japan. Janet was a devoted and loving mother to her three children. She was a fantastic station wagon captain. Janet was passionately involved in her children’s activities, including Modelling Moppets and the Girl Scouts of America. She was a member of Church of the Resurrection where she lectured for years. Janet was an avid bridge player and active in both the Montgomery County Stroke Association and Red Hat Society. Her family and friends will miss her enthusiasm, generosity and tenacity for life.
She is survived by children, Caroline (Braxton) Richardson of Adelphi, William and Elizabeth of Jacksonville, FL; brother, Dr. Thomas (Diane) Nagy of Cincinnati, OH. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Dr. Paul Nagy.
Visitation will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, November 2 at Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home, 11800 New Hampshire Ave Silver Spring, MD 20904. The funeral service is at 11 a.m. with viewing at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 3 at Church of the Resurrection, 3315 Greencastle Road, Burtonsville, MD 20866. Memorials may be made to the Church of the Resurrection or Montgomery County Stroke Association.
