Obituary for Mary Honisko

Mary Alice Honisko, age 69, died peacefully on December 7, 2020 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was born on June 5, 1951 in Toledo to Thomas and Alice (Thompson) Crossen. Mary graduated from McAuley High School and the University of Toledo. She taught Physical Education for the Catholic Diocese. Mary married her husband Richard J. Honisko on June 18, 1976. She raised her 3 children and enjoyed being a homemaker. Mary was a lifelong member and volunteer at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. She became the loving child care provider for her 3 granddaughters, whom she adored. Mary also appreciated history and watching John Wayne movies, as well as going out to dinner with her special friends.
Mary is survived by her children Andrea (James) Born, Marcia and Eric Honisko; granddaughters Adeline “Addie”, Elise and Tess; her brothers Thomas (Smorn), James, Richard (Jeanne), and Donald (Sandra) Crossen, and her sister in law Sandra (Bob) Young. She is also survived by her mother in law Betty Honisko and several nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Richard.
Friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd. on Thursday, December 10 from 2:00- 8:00 p.m., with a Scripture Service at 7:00. The funeral will begin at Coyle at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, December 11, followed by Mass at OLPH Church at 10:00 a.m. Masks and social distancing will be required at the funeral home and church.
