Gertrude T. Bagrowski
Gertrude Bagrowski, 95, of Swanton passed away February 2, 2021. She was born on November 20, 1925 to Joseph and Anna (Szkatulski) Popiela in Toledo. Gertrude began her working career at 16 at a glove factory and eventually went on to work for Estes printing, the Turnpike Hotel, and airport transportation. She was an active member of St. Richard Church in Swanton where she was an Eucharistic Minister, was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, made rosaries and kitchen scrub pads to donate, cleaned, and performed light office work. Gertrude enjoyed attending festivals and fairs, traveling to visit her family, loved the wildlife and nature, fishing, flowers, loved her coffee, pumpkin pie, playing cards, reading, music, baking, camping, and visiting the Toledo Zoo where she was a member for over 50 years.
Gertrude was preceded in death by her loving husband, Delfin and 11 siblings. Surviving are her children, Michael (Patricia), Patricia (James) Sheehy, Daniel (Cindy), Joseph, David and Ann (Timothy) Giebel; grandchildren, Chris, Katy, Brian, Jason, Justin, Brittany and Travis; great grandchildren; great great grandchildren; brother, Edward Popiela; and extended family and friends.
Visitation with social distancing will be held on Sunday from 3-7:00 p.m. at the W.K. Sujkowski & Son Funeral Home, 3838 Airport Hwy. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 8, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the mortuary where friends may visit after 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Memorial tributes may be directed to St. Richard Church, Swanton, OH or the Toledo Zoo.
