In a combined business trip & vacation, I took my husband Philip and step-son Shawn to Hong Kong in October 2009.  We stayed in Sha Tin (near the China border) and in Kowloon.  Our favorite memories included crossing the Victoria Harbour on the 112 year old Star Ferry, visiting the countless temples and Buddhas, dining at Victoria’s Peak, shopping on Nathan Road and at the Jade Market, gambling in Macau and taking my husband for his custom-made suit fittings at the famous “Sams Tailor”.  The walls were full of celebrities photos who were customers of Sams; David Bowie, various US Presidents, Julie Roberts, Colin Powell, Prince Philip, Michael Jackson, Queen Elizabeth…..

My writing business has expanded to websites and blogs and I’m so grateful for my children, Joey 8 and Ryan 3.  I’m completing marketing courses at U.C. Berkley Extension.

What has surprised me with the recession is our community voted in more money for schools despite the recession!  Everyone realizes that funding schools helps our kids AND our property values!

Now living in Orlando, FL since 1981.  Am returning to school to become a radiation therapist.  Was exposed to this career as a result of being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008, and have a passion for this career now.  I was blessed that the breast cancer I had was non-invasive and only required a lumpectomy and radiation, but still want to give back in any way I can.  I have two grown children and 5 grandchildren.  My son lives in Michigan and my daughter lives in Groveland, FL just outside of Orlando.

Posted by mcauleyhighschool on August 8, 2010

David and I have been retired for about 18 months now, after each having worked more than 30 years for the State of Wisconsin.  I am keeping busy with needlework of various kinds (knitting and quilting especially), volunteer work with Madison Symphony Chorus (also 30+ years) and my church, travel (Jamaica and Spain this year), and being an officer of Madison Sail and Power Squadron.  Our 40th wedding anniversary will be next June; two of our three children are married, and we have a red-headed one-year old grandson.
