Brother of Kathleen ’72, Mary ’75, Julia ’81 and Joyce Redding ’84 passed away

Thomas M. Redding, 63, died on August 9, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Tom was born on May 18, 1959 in Toledo to Jerrold and Mary Jane (Park) Redding. Tom worked for Terumo Cardiovascular Systems in Ann Arbor as a software engineer. He was an avid cyclist, hiker and earned a brown belt in Aikido. Tom enjoyed the live theater and reading. He was a lifelong learner. After becoming diagnosed with ALS, he became part of a clinical trial at the University of Michigan. Tom was a man of faith and active parishioner at OLPH.

Surviving are his siblings, Kathleen (Scott) Tester, Mary (Norm) Wilcox, Julie (Keith) Rippke, Joyce (Anthony) Dodge, and Jey (Jacque) Redding; many nieces, nephews; and great- nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd. on Sunday, August 14 from 1:00-6:00 p.m. with a Scripture Service at 5:30. The funeral will begin at Coyle on Monday, August 15 at 9:30 followed by the Mass at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. Interment will be at a later date at Resurrection Cemetery. Sandra Szymanski ’64 passed away (sister to Melvina (Zippy) ’71 and deceased sister Michele ’67)

Sandra F. Drabek, age 75, of Toledo, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania. She was born on November 20, 1946, in Toledo to Melvin A. and Lucille G. (Konopinski) Szymanski. Sandra was a graduate of McAuley High School and attended Mary Manse College. She had worked for over 30 years with the Former Ohio Bell and AT & T, retiring in 1999. Sandra was a longtime member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church where she was active with the Daughters of Mary. She was a life member of the Catholic War Veterans Auxiliary and active in the Logsdon-Walla Post Ladies Auxiliary. Over 20 years, Sandy served as a trustee and chairlady of several events. She was acknowledged for her selfless work and volunteer hours this past May 2022 with honor of the Saint Theresa of Calcutta Medal presented by Auxiliary 639 and was named Women of the Year. Sandy was very active in several Catholic Senior groups, 50 plus club Gesu, St. Hyacinth, and our Lady of Lourdes Daughters of Mary. She was active in several civic groups, and enjoyed attending local senior centers playing Bunco and Bingo. Sandy and her vast catering knowledge shared these skills with all the clubs and centers she belonged to by chairing the kitchen committee for several fundraisers making lunch for thousands of attendees over the years. She also assisted Malczewski’s Catering for many years. Her famous chicken sandwiches and multi-layer jello are just two of the many of Sandy’s specials. Sandy was the first in and last out when she volunteered.

Sandy made a difference in this life with her faith, her love for her family, especially proud of her son, and her selfless acts of charity for veterans.

Preceded in death by her husband, John L. Drabek on December 25, 2009; as well as by her parents.

Surviving is her son, John T. “Skip” Drabek; her sister, Melvina “Zippy” Roberts; several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will receive friends on Friday August 26, 2022, from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Thos. I. Wisniewski Funeral Home, 2426 North Reynolds Rd., Toledo, Ohio, where the Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. by the Daughters of Mary. Prayers will be recited on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home with a procession to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 6149 Hill Ave., for the Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment Calvary Cemetery.

Aline Clark Restorick ’65 passed away:

Aline E. Restorick, age 75, of Jackson Twp., passed away peacefully in her cherished home on Wednesday, July 27, 2022.

She was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio and graduated from Mercy Nursing School of Toledo in 1968. With three young boys, the family moved to the Canton area in 1982.

Aline retired from Aultman Hospital where she was a Registered Nurse and director of the NICU for many years.

She was a member and Sunshine person of her AARP group, and loved being part of the North Canton Garden Club.

Aline is survived by her husband of 54 years, William H. Restorick; her sons, William Jr. (Jennifer), Chris (Kara), Bryan (Heidi); her grandchildren, Brendan, Mackenzie, Bradley, Kyrsten, Riley, Elliot, Mitchell and Quinn; her great grandchildren, Lilianna, Everleigh, Averyrose, Briellah and Declan. Her Brother George (Lori), brother in-law John (Barb), nieces and nephews Justin, Jeremy, Jordan, Rachel and Conner, and last but not least the grand dogs, Henson, Watson, Nellie and Keeper.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her father John, her mother Margaret, her sisters Judy and Chrissy, and the beloved princess Cocoa.

Her mastery of organization and cleanliness was second to none. Aline’s family and friends were the pride and joy of her life. The legacy of her kind spirit, passion for her home and garden, and her love of ‘Bling’ along with so many cherished memories will live on in our hearts forever.

Memorial service will be held on Monday, August 1, 2022 at Heitger Funeral Home – Jackson Chapel, 5850 Wales Ave. N.W. at 11 A.M. Following the Services, please join the family to offer condolences and share stories as we gather at La Pizzeria, 3656 Dressler Rd NW, Canton, OH 44718 at 12 Noon.

Mother of Linda ’77, Joanne ’78 and Sandra Wagner ’82 passed away:

Mary Louise Yager Wagner, 85, of South Toledo, passed away Sunday, July 31st 2022.

The 5th of 8 children, Mary was born to Edward and Alice Yager in August of 1936 in Toledo, Ohio. She attended St. Charles Borromeo Elementary School. Early on, she formed fond friendships with Bev Dreier and Phyllis Brunner, who remained close to her for the rest of her life. She graduated from Central Catholic High School as a part of the Class of 1954, where she met her husband, Byron “Barney” Wagner. They were married for 29 years before Barney passed away in 1984, and together they had 13 children.

Mary was a faithful parishioner of O.L.P.H. for 63 years. She enjoyed her work with the Tanalski family at Sanitary Cleaners as an “inspector”, and managed the first layaway department at Meijer in Maumee, Ohio. She enjoyed volunteering at St. Luke’s Hospital for 14 years. Mary was an active member of The Red Hat Society and traveled with her grade school classmates on various trips and outings to casinos. She loved attending monthly dinners with her siblings, playing bingo, drinking an occasional margarita, and most of all spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Alice Yager, husband, Barney Wagner, siblings; Theresa Musch, Joe Yager, and Angela Badik, brothers-in-law Nelson Musch, Mickey Badik, Norm Bunte; sisters-in-law Mary Yager, Dottie Yager; son-in-law, Paul P. Szymanski, and her grandson, Hap Harvick. She is survived by all 13 of her children: Carl (Sherry) Wagner, Mark (Lynn) Wagner, William (Karen) Wagner, Linda (Daniel) Truman, Joanne (Mark) Olnhausen, Jim Wagner, Pat (Chris) Wagner, Sandra Szymanski, Joe (Vicki) Wagner, John (Dawn) Wagner, David (Michelle) Wagner, Robert (Frances) Wagner, and Jennifer Phillips. Her surviving siblings are C.J. Yager, Ursula (Jack) Mattimore, Eleanor Bunte, and Donald Yager. She will be greatly missed by her 30 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Mary left us beautiful memories. Her love of faith and family will forever be our guide.

Family and friends will gather at Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd. on Sunday, August 7th from 3 p.m.-8 p.m., and again Monday, August 8th at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 2255 Central Grove Ave., Toledo, from 9 a.m-10 a.m. with the funeral Mass to follow at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
