William F.
William F. Brandel was born on August 12, 1923, to Alphonse and Marie Brandel in Toledo Ohio. Bill graduated from both Central Catholic High School (1941), and Assumption College. Bill honorably served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the Army duringWorld War II and was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He was employed at Prestolite as a Corporate Accountant for 36 years, where he met his wife, Alice A. Arthur whom he married June 17, 1950. He was a 4th Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus. Bill volunteered for Mobile Meals for over 25 years and was a communion distributor at UTMC for 20 years. He was a 30 year member of the Institute of Management Accountants and Treasurer for the OLPH Parish Council and Treasure for the Holy Name Society. He also worked with the Boy Scouts and Junior Achievement.
Bill and Alice enjoyed gathering with many close friends in Fort Myers every winter. He golfed every day after retirement and was very proud of his hole-in-one. They traveled to all 50 states and over a dozen countries.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Alice; children, Marcia (Mike) Linenkugel, Jan Konrad, Connie (Vince) Curtis, Bill (Sue) Brandel and his grandchildren, Lisa King, Ryan Konrad, Christi Rotterdam, Eric Walter, Kelly Biggs, Nathan Konrad, Andrew Velker, David Brandel, Sharilyn Brandel, Mike Curtis, Greg Curtis, Charles Curtis, Rob Linenkugel, Jeff Linenkugel and Julie Emerson. Bill was also deeply loved by his 27 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard and sister, Catherine.
Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help where friends are invited to visit after 10:00 a.m. Special thanks to Swan Creek for their warmth and kindness.
