SZYMANSKI Paul Philip Paul Philip Szymanski, “Paul P”, 46, of Perrysburg, Ohio, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, July 3 , 2010, after bravely battling brain cancer for 14 and a half years. He was born October 9, 1963, Toledo, Ohio, to Philip P. and Ruth M. Szymanski. Paul was a graduate of St. John’s Jesuit High School and the University of Toledo. He married Sandra L. Wagner on July 1st, 1989. Paul was a Paper Consultant for Commerce Paper Company in Toledo for 18 years. He was a proud member of Toledo Junior Golf Association, serving as its president from 1998 to 2001. A man of great faith, hope and love, Paul was an active member of St. Rose Parish and a member of the Eucharistic team to Heartland of Perrysburg. He was a member of the American Cancer Society Team Footprints Relay For Life team, and a mentor to many newly diagnosed cancer patients. Paul P was a loving, devoted husband who loved life! Always full of positive energy, he laughed out loud, turned the music up to sing and dance, and was always the first to get to the dance floor. He had a passion for golf, maintaining long-lasting friendships as a result of his many years of play. On and off the golf course, Paul was a good, fair, honest and joyful person. He had great care and concern for the underdogs in life, giving needed encouragement and inspiration along the way. He was committed to doing the right thing. He was always honorable, always said YES to life, and gave each challenge his best shot. He considered himself a winner! He had the best of friends and especially enjoyed time spent with his childhood friends, BJ (Tammy) Claus, Patrick (Kerry) Streb, Brian Jorris and their families. His family of friends, including those in the St. Rose community and the golf world, will be his lasting legacy as the Paul P stories will live on in their hearts. Paul’s favorite line was “Life is Good,” which made him a hero to those who knew him as his struggle with cancer took a great deal of patience and fortitude. One only needed to look at his broad smile to know how much he loved life. Paul lived the gifts of Faith, Hope and Love. Paul leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 21 years, Sandra Szymanski. He will be dearly missed by his large family, his father, Philip Szymanski; his brothers, Mark (Debbie), Matt (Linda), Michael (Lisa), Nicholas (Amy), and sisters, Laura Kaczmarek and Jackie (Jeff) Jarvis. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Mary Wagner, and brothers- and sisters-in-law, Carl (Sherry) Wagner, Mark (Lynn) Wagner, Bill (Karen) Wagner, Linda (Dan) Truman, Joanne (Mark) Olnhausen, James Wagner, Patricia Wagner (Chris Miller), Joseph (Vicki) Wagner, John Wagner, David (Michelle) Wagner, Robert (Frances) Wagner and Jennifer Phillips, and 32 incredibly special nieces and nephews.
