Mother of Cindy Jones ’75 passed away

Dorothy M. Jones, age 89, a lifelong resident of Maumee, Ohio passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Monday, July 3, 2017, one day after her 68th wedding anniversary. She was born in Toledo, Ohio on February 22, 1928 to Alonzo R. and Genevieve L. (Berthrem) Davis. Dorothy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed decorating and cooking for her family. She shared a love of traveling with her husband, Lester, and together they traveled to 49 states and went on several cruises. They both enjoyed their winters at their condo in Venice, Florida. Dorothy was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Maumee and enjoyed playing cards.

Dorothy is survived by her loving husband, Lester; son, Jeffrey (Paula) Jones; daughter, Cynthia (Zygmunt) Wierzbicki; grandchildren, Joshua (Deirdre) Jones, John (Polly) Wierzbicki, Olivia (Larry) Twigg, Jr., Lisa (John) Heslop; and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.

The family would like to send a special thank you to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, especially, Carolyn McVicker, Victoria and Cindy. Everyone there was very caring and did everything to make Dorothy and the whole family feel loved.

Visitation will be held from 3-8 p.m. on Friday, July 7, 2017 at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee, Ohio. Prayers will begin at 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, July 8, 2017 in the funeral home with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Maumee, Ohio. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Maumee, Ohio.
